Barnburner 5000
Come join us at Royal Bay Secondary in Colwood on September 12th for the 4th annual Barnburner 5000. Heats run slowest to fastest from 4pm. Competitive fields and a genuine shot at a PR.
About the race
The Barnburner 5000 is a seeded, paced 5000m designed for athletes who are serious about their times. Heats are grouped by ability and run in order from slowest to fastest, so every heat is competitive throughout. No medals, no t-shirts, no podium ribbons — just 12.5 fast laps and a genuine opportunity to run a personal best.
The race is open for everyone interested in a fast 5k with good competition. If you are aiming for a 5k time between 13 and 25 minutes we'll have a heat for you to chase your lifetime best.

Format
Seeded heats, slowest to fastest. Each heat is competitive — you'll be racing people near your level from the gun. Paced sections available.
Logistics
Heats begin at 4:00 pm. Arrive at least 30 minutes before your heat for warm-up. Spikes and carbon shoes permitted.
Venue
Royal Bay Secondary School track, Colwood, BC. Parking available on site. The track is a standard 400m all-weather surface.
